THE STUDY ON INTENSIVE PROGRAM IN PRACTICING ENGLISH CONVERSATION AT ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL NURUL JADID PAITON PROBOLINGGO

Key words: English Conversation, Intensive Program
To learn English, the students should be diligent to improve the skill by
joining program of English activity likes intensive program at Islamic Boarding
School Nurul Jadid Paiton Probolinggo. Intensive program is a program for
student should be seriousness in learning process. Intensive program also it is very
good to learn English.
Therefore, there are two focuses of this research are: (1) What are the
activities of intensive program in practicing English conversation at Islamic
Boarding School Nurul Jadid Paiton Probolinggo? (2) What are the advantages
and disadvantages of intensive program in practicing English Conversation at
Islamic Boarding School Nurul Jadid Paiton Probolinggo?
This research includes to descriptive qualitative research. The research is
conducted at Islamic Boarding School Nurul Jadid Paiton Probolinggo. While,
there are three instruments of this research are; observation, interview, and
documentation. After the data has collected, then the researcher analyze the data
by six activities from (1) checking, (2) collecting, (3) classifying, (4) analyzing ,
(5) verifying, and (6) making conclusion.
Based on the result of research, the researcher found that there are five
activities in practicing English conversation are: (1) pair conversation, (2)
discussion, (3) presentation, (4) story telling, and (5) role play. The researcher
also found at least two advantages of Intensive Program are (1) good environment
to Improve Students’ Speaking Skill, and (2) the best student permits to be
teacher. In contrary, the researcher also found two disadvantages of Intensive
Program are (1) lack of meeting, and (2) lack of facility.
From the result of research, the researcher provides some suggestions. To
teacher, the researcher hopes the teacher must do the best again for the students.
To student, the researcher hopes the students to join the program seriously and be
the best may be a teacher there.
