Argot is commonly used to identify whether someone is one of the members of such circles or outsider, as well as to promote feeling of security, isolation, and camouflage of the members. The craftsmen in Karduluk make specific language from the language being before. The language used by the community as their daily language in which other outsider does not understand of it. Only members of craftsmen in Karduluk Pragaan Sumenep that communicate using the language. In accordance with sociolinguistic, the language that used by community of craftsmen in Karduluk Pragaan Sumenep is called Argot.
They are three problems in this research, they are: the first how is argot used as communication process at Karduluk Sumenep. The second, how are the phonological rules of argot used as communication process at Karduluk Sumenep. And the third, what are the meanings of argot words used by craftsmen in Karduluk Sumenep.
In this research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative study. The goal is to describe the phenomenon found during the research. The data were collected by doing observation, documentation and interview. The data is taken form the craftsmen community at Karduluk Pragaan Sumenep.
As the result of the study, the writer finds out that argot language used by craftsmen community at Karduluk Pragaan Sumenep is only formed by rearrange the word of Madurese language and give the addition go before the initial sound. This language used as specia11anguage in order to deceive and to avoid the outsider's understanding about the topic they talk.
Based on the result above, it is suggested the craftsmen to maintain their special language in their daily language, and for student as the next researcher to know and pay attention to the language development especially of Madurese language up to now.
