THE REGISTER USED BY THE CHIEF OF INDONESIAN NATIONAL POLICE TITO KARNAVIAN IN RESPONDING THE SUICIDE BOMB ACCIDENT IN SURABAYA

This thesis examines the use of register by the chief of Indonesian national police toward his response to bomb accident in Surabaya. Register is a language variation based on usage. The focus of this research to determine the register uses by the chief of Indonesian national police, the meaning of the register used by the chief of Indonesian national police and how are the registers used by the chief of Indonesian national police toward his response to bomb accident in Surabaya.
The researcher employed descriptive qualitative research. The researcher is as key instrument and as passive observer to collect the data. To complete the data, the researcher documented Tito Karnavian videos of the suicide bomb explosion accident in Surabaya, in May 13th 2018. The data analysis includes data reduction, data display and verification. To validate the data, the researcher uses technique triangulation.
The result of this research shows that there are 27 registers used by the chief of Indonesian national police Tito Karnavian. For instance Puslabfor, Penyidikan, High explosive, Deteksi intelejen, Olah TKP, Surveillance, Mako brimob, and so forth. The registers are used in the specific situation of the context. For example, Puslabfor (to explain the result of identification about the type of explosive used by the terrorist), Penyidikan (an act to look for intensively the evidence, crime scene), High explosive, Deteksi intelejen (the terrorists have trained and know how the procedure of police work).
The researcher suggests to the further researchers who might conduct research in the field of registers to analyze other elements and use other methods.

Skripsi ini meneliti tentang penggunaan register oleh Jendral kepolisian republik Indonesia, Tito Karnavin dalam tangapanya terhadap peristiwa bom bunuh diri di Surabaya. Register adalah variasi bahasa berdasarkan penggunaanya. Fokus dari penelitian ini untuk menentukan register yang digunakan oleh jendral polisi, makna dari register, dan bagaimana penggunaan register oleh Jendral Polisi Tito Karnavian dalam tangaapannya terhadap bom bunuh diri di Surabaya.
Peneliti menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Peneliti sebagai instrumen inti dan passive observer dalam pengambilan data. Untuk menyelesaikan data, peneliti mendokumentasikan video Tito Karnavian dalam merespon bom bunuh diri di Surabaya, pada tanggal 13 Mei 2018. Untuk analisis data meleputi Data Reduction, Data Display, and Verification. Untuk validasi data peneliti menggunakan triangulasi teknik.
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada 27 kata register yang digunakan oleh Jendral Tito Karnavian. Seperti contoh Puslabfor, Penyidikan, High explosive, Deteksi intelejen, Olah TKP, Surveillance, Mako brimob, dan sebagainya. Regsiter itu digunakan pada situasi dan konteks tertentu. Misal, Puslabfor (untuk menjelaskan hasil dari identifikasi barang bukti atau korban), Penyidikan (kegiatan untuk mempelajari lebih dalam sebab dan alasan pengeboman terjadi), Deteksi intelejen (deteksi yang dilakukan team khusus dalam kepolisian).
Peneliti menyarankan kepada peneliti selanjutnya yang mungkin akan melakukan penelitian tentang register untuk menganalisis element dan metode lainnya.
