This study analyses the morphological process, focuses on derivation process and inflectional process in poetic lyric. The researcher decides to discuss the morphological process in poetic lyric of the song’s lyric because song’s lyric is a ‘product’ of literature. What we can enjoy from the song’s lyric is the sentence. Sentenses themselves consist of some words while words themselves are mainly discussed in morphology. Because song’s lyric or poem is a kind of literary work and morphology includes the study of language. So, it can be included liguistics and literature are connected. “Let’s Talk About Love” album by Celine Dion is one of the fenomenal album that one of the songs in this album is the most successful single “My Heart Will Go On” that makes the singer “Celine Dion” be a pop diva in the world.
The are two rsearch focus appears, then : how are the derivation and inflection process in poetic lyric in “Let’s Talk About Love”album by Celine Dion. Limited in sixteen song’s lyric. The researcher aims to explain the derivation and inflection process.
In this research used in this thesis is library research focus in qualitative descriptive, in which to colect the data, the researcher reviews some the books connected with derivation and inflection process.
The result of the study shows that the morphological analysis in this album is dominated by inflectional process by adding suffixes. And the researcher only takes one word as example to explain the process of inflection by adding suffix. For example the word standing is a verb. it has basically root stand (Verb). After added by suffix –ing, the parts of speech is not changing, but it implies progressive / present participle. And there are only some words in this album that include into derivational process by adding prefix and suffix. For example the word imprison is a verb. It has basically root prison (Noun). When it is added by prefix –im, the word imprison is classified into verb. prefix –im has function to form verb. And the word gentleness is a noun. It has basically root gentle (Adjective). When it is added by suffix –ness, the word gentleness is classified into noun. Suffix –ness has function to form noun.
