The Analysis of Teachers’ Efforts in Developing Student’s Interest in Learning in “The Ron Clark Story” Movie”

Facts on the ground related to student’s low interest in learning and more
interested on other activities. Students are more interested in playing their own gadgets
and talking to their friends without paying attention to the teacher's explanation. During
the discussion, the students chatted with their group outside the discussion theme, they
do that because they no interest in learning. A student’s interest in learning is not
always stable, but always changing. Therefore, it needs to be directed and developed
to a predetermined choice through the efforts that can be made by the teacher and the
factors that can develop that interest in learning.
Regarding to the student’s interest, the researcher analyzed the teachers’ efforts
in developing student’s interest in learning in "The Ron Clark Story" movie and
classified some of the teachers’ efforts in developing student interest in learning and
the factors that can develop student’s interest in learning.
The researcher used a qualitative approach with content analysis as kind of
research. The primary source used is "The Ron Clark Story" movie to find out the
data needed. While the secondary source, that refers to books, journals that deals with
student’s interest in learning. To collect data, researchers used observation and
documentation. Familiarizing and organizing, coding and reducing, and interpreting
and representing are used to analyze the data.
The results of this research shows that there are 5 teachers’ efforts in developing
student’s interest in learning, they are fun teaching, treating and understanding
students so good communication is established, giving praise and rewards, fun learning
methods and developing lesson materials. Meanwhile, there are 2 factors that can
develop student’s interest in learning, they are intrinsic factors which include student’s
mood, talent, and like. Extrinsic factors include praise or reward, good score, good
teacher, learning atmosphere as well as facilities and infrastructure.
