Lecturer Difficulties on Online Teaching of English on Pandemic Covid-19 in the Third Semester at TBI of IAIN Madura 2021-2022 Academic Year

Key Words: Difficulties, Online Teaching, Pandemic Covid-19.
Difficulties or problems are something not easily done, accomplished,
comprehended, or solved. The problem in teaching is also sometimes experienced
by teacher or lecturer. This happens due to 2 factors, namely internal factors and
external factors.
The purpose of this study is to find out what problems are experienced by
lecturers in English online teaching (4 basic English skills) during the Covid-19
pandemic at the TBI/ teaching learning program of IAIN Madura and how
lecturers overcome the problems they faced in English online teaching at TBI of
IAIN Madura.
In this study, the researcher used a qualitative approach, with a description
method. The data source is a TBI lecturer who teaches 4 basic English skills,
namely speaking, reading, writing and listening at the State Islamic Institute
(IAIN) Madura. In collecting data, researchers used two research procedures,
namely in-depth interviews and documentation. The researcher then analyzed the
data by studying and organizing, then given a password or key word and reducing
or removing unnecessary things, and finally interpreting and presenting the
research results.
The results of this study indicate that the difficulties/problems of lecturers in
online teaching of English during the Covid-19 pandemic are internal problems
(class control) and external problems (class and campus discipline and learning
tools or media). There are several ways that lecturers do to overcome these
problems, namely by making and giving questions to students so that they can be
more active as well as providing motivation so that they remain enthusiastic in
learning. In addition, the lecturer always reminds students to check their internet
quota first before entering class so that they are not interrupted in the middle of
learning and also reminds them to be in a place that has a strong internet network.
