The Analysis of Interpersonal Meaning in Caption Found in Instagram Used by Verified Accounts

In the process of communication in Instagram between the writer and the
reader, not at all can catch exactly the meaning of the clause in the caption.
Therefore the researcher formulated the problem; how is the interpersonal
meaning through mood structure realized in captions and what are the mood types
and speech functions used by verified accounts. The aims of this research are to
analyze the interpersonal meaning through mood structures realized in Instagram
captions and to describe the mood types and speech functions used by verified
accounts.
This research was conducted by using qualitative approach with library
research. For data sources are 50 captions in Instagram that produced by verified
accounts which were collected by using documentation method. For the data
analysis that is used by this research through Miles and Huberman‟s model; data
reduction, data display, and conclusion. The researcher used triangulation for
checking validity of the data.
The data findings from 50 captions in Instagram, there are mood structures
that consist of mood element; 46 subjects, and 44 finites, while residue elements
obtained 41 predicators, 63 complements, 7 circumstantial adjunts, 11 mood
adjunts, 1 polarity adjunt, 1 vocative adjunt, 13 conjunctive adjunts, and 2
continuity adjunts. For the mood types and speech funtions, each of them
obtained; 27 clauses for declarative mood and statements, 11 clauses for
interrogative mood and question that 7 polar interrogative mood and 4 WHinterrogative mood. It can be concluded that declaratice mood and statement are
mostly found in Instagram caption. The advantages of this research are can add
knowledge in linguistics field about systemic functional linguistics especially for
interpersonal meaning analysis, can be reference for the resercher who has same
topic with difference object and extensive discussion, and can help the readers to
know and understand about the interpersonal meaning in caption found in
Instagram
